News and Society -Crime News Blog: Court Ordered Theft Classes ...

Not everyone out there who has a problem with stealing voluntarily takes education classes of their own free will. Sadly, most of the time the people completing these classes are forced to do so according to a court order against the individual.

The good news about taking theft education classes by court order is the ability to complete the classes online. The standard method of going to a mandatory in person counseling session no longer always applies. In today's age of internet technology, the judge will often give you the option to complete the theft education classes online. If you do get this option, don't turn your back on it! There are quite a few pros of such classes online by court order.

The first advantage is privacy. No one knows who you are and no one see your face when completing the classes. Sure, you have to use your name, but short of that, there is no circle group or round house discussions. Discussions are done on your own time and maybe even the occasional homework assignment.

Another advantage is the price. Taking in person theft education classes can cost hundreds of dollars. You have to pay for a small portion of the building rent, payroll for the teacher, the materials, the electricity, and so and so forth.

When taking online theft education classes by court order the cost is relatively cheap. They may not be exactly be for free, but they are a far more affordable than the in person classes and all the expenses that imposes on the student.

Many judges have also made thieves take theft classes online by court order because it's easier to absorb the materials. When you are looking at a computer screen alone and not having the weight of your peers bearing down on you, the student's learning curve increases greatly.

Also, the thief can log on to the theft class and go over the class materials at any time. In standard classes, the student would only get access to those materials when class was in session. This doesn't really allow for any type of studying in the hopes of passing and learning something.

The final good thing about the idea of online education would be the certification. Each thief turned student that completes the online class will receive a downloadable and printable certification that they can take to court and have authenticated for completion. New York theft classes lead the nation in referrals to these programs.

For all these reasons and plain ease of access, judges all over the country have been allowing thieves to take their mandatory theft classes online and doing so by court order. Many people have objected, saying that it takes away somehow from the experience. The supporters say that it has shown an increase of absorption and the people taking them learn more and learn quicker than with standard live classes.
